Ce tableau est une huile sur toile qui fut exposée au Salon des Artistes Français à Paris en 1909.   Il a manifestement besoin d'une grande restauration. Il témoigne du genre intimiste très accusé de cette époque de la vie du peintre qui habitera avec sa famille dans la région parisienne jusqu'en 1920. On peut remarquer, tout au long de cette phase artistique, un goût pour les contrastes ombre et lumière, à contre-jour. Ce portrait de ma grand'mère épluchant des pommes de terre me rapelle son petit couteau Opinel qu'elle gardait toujours dans la poche de son tablier pour ce genre de travail. Elle n'aimait pas que je l'aide car, à voir ma façon d'éplucher à ses côtés, elle disait que je faisais du gaspillage.

Este cuadro es un óleo sobre lienzo que fue expuesto en el Salon des Artistes Français en Paris en 1909. Necesita evidentemente una importante restauración. Demuestra bien el genero intimista muy acusado de esta época de la vida del pintor que vivirá con su familia en la región parisiense hasta 1920. Se puede notar, a lo largo de esta fase artística, un gusto por los contrastes luz y sombra, a contra-luz. Este retrato de mi abuela mondando patatas me recuerda su pequeño cuchillo Opinel que guardaba en el bolsillo de su delantal para estos menesteres. No le gustaba que la ayudase pues, al ver mi manera de mondar a su lado, decía que hacía despilfarro.

This is an oil on canvas painting that was exposed in the Salon des Artistes Français in Paris in 1909. Obviously, it needs an important restoration. It shows very well the intimacy greatly marked in this period of the painter's life, who will live with his family in the Parisian region until 1920. Along all this artistic phase, we can notice a special taste for the contrasts of light and shadow, against the light. This portrait of my grandmother peeling potatoes reminds me her little knife Opinel that she kept in her apron pocket. She did not like that I help her because, seeing the way I used to peel, she said I was always wasting.
