Yseuville was a rural small town, as it is represented in the canvas. This area in the outskirts of Le Mans was very close to the Botanic Garden and to the Sainte Croix Church in the northeast of the city. Its name, as well as the one of its avenues, has its origin in a local proprietor called Yseux. The construction of a new and cheap urbanization in this place began between the two world wars, being interrupted during the second one. For this reason, it continued developing in the 50’s, overcoming the housing crisis. It became a real extension of the city in the 90’s, with several public and private gardens.
